And once again I realize how horrible I am at keeping a blog up to date. Hopefully I'll get better with time.
So this is relatively old news... but I've gotten UDK to draw that sword. I owe a big thank you to Iovindadonks on the Epic Games Community forum for helping me solve that problem.
Now I just have to figure out how to make the thing swing. That might take a few weeks. I'll keep you guys updated.
Meanwhile... My semester at TJC is almost over. I have one full week before finals and after that I'll have till January to catch my breath. I've decided to challenge myself to see how fast I can develop a Gauntlet clone in Game Maker Studio. Way back in middle school I played around in Game Maker before the company was bought by YoYo games. I ended up making two crappy vertical shmups. To compensate for the relatively simple play mechanics of Gauntlet, I'm going to make an effort to spice it up with some mechanics of my own. In the meantime, I've got schoolwork to turn in and finals to study for so I'll see you guys later.

My Current Project: Unrealscript Third Person Combat Demo
I apologize for not updating this blog sooner. Life has been busy and I imagine it's only going to keep being busy so updates to the blog will be erratic.
I am currently working on building a third person combat demo in Unreal Development Kit using Unrealscript. As you can see in the photo below, I have a crude third person camera coded into the player pawn's class file. I'm hoping to improve it since I have found out about the Camera Class in Unreal.
However, the bigger problem right now is that the melee weapon I've coded in refuses to render unless I press the 'F' key to feign death (which is inherited from the UTPawn Class) in which case this happens...
I'm not as worried about the player turning invisible because I'm hoping an improved camera system will fix that, I'm more worried about getting the sword to appear by default. If any UDK Modders out there have any advice, I'd appreciate it. Stay tuned for more updates in the future.

Introduction/ Who Does this Guy Think he is?
Welcome to my blog! If you're on this blog, you probably either stumbled here by accident or you might know me elsewhere. I thought I'd use this first post as my introduction to the wonderful world of the internet and by extension, the world.
My name is Herbert Lawrence Praskey. Sometimes you'll see me as La Bomba Frita on certain websites like the Extra Credits Forum or on DeviantART. I came up with the name in high school while flipping through a Spanish-English Dictionary during Spanish class.
I'm currently in my last semester of Game Programming an my first semester of Game Design at Tyler Junior College. I've always loved video games, and have decided I want to make a career of developing them.
I decided to make this blog to chronicle my adventures in Game Development. That's how I can best describe my experience learning to develop games. It's a journey without any destination. I'll also be posting progress on any of the countless projects I've got going on. If I ever have anything to say about Game Development or the game industry as a whole, It'll go here as well.
In the far (or near) future, I would like to start my own game development studio. It's also my dream to create a website where an average Joe like you and me can go to learn how to develop games. I want to see a day when little six year old Susy and her Grandmother can bond together designing and developing their own adventure game. The tools are out there for free, all it takes is a little dedication and a lot more learning.
